Happy Valley - 06/03/24

A cloudy day at the Valley for this card and a chance the track gets a bit wet, regardless looking like a great night of racing!

R1 - Kwoon Chung Motors - 1200M - C5

10 - Viva A La - Alexis Badel

Generally a leader horse at most runs but showed some good speed with a change of tactic from the wide draw settled 7th and powered home on the straight to only get beat by a horse in a similar position. Gets a better draw here and the Manfred Man trained gelding has a big chance to get his second win this term.

Danger - Nordic Combined

Selections - 10 - 6 - 3 - 2

R2 - Kwoon Chung Cross Boundary Service - 1650M - C5

3 - Medic Elite - Hugh Bowman - Best Bet

Super impressive last start under Zac Purton and could of won by more then the 1 and 1/4 lengths. Gets Hugh Bowman this time and he didn't take long to get back to form following the suspension. Gets my best bet for the night and should be at a tasty price in the AU market too.

Danger - Big Two

Selections - 3 - 4 - 10 - 12

R3 - Trans-Island Chinalink - 1800M - C4

10 - Kyrus Unicorn - Brenten Avdullla

He has a win incoming and I cant see myself steering away from him just yet have backed this horse last 2 starts and have been impressed with the progress that has been made, a chance yet again tonight to get that second win. Happy to stay on him.

Danger - Darci Joy

Selections - 10 - 2 - 5 - 6

R4 - Kwoon Chung Intercontinental Limousine - 1200M - C3

3 - Lightning Bolt - Hugh Bowman - Each Way

Found this the hardest of the night, beyond my selection it is really open field some very good horses battling it out in this Class 3. I'm looking to Lightning Bolt to return to the form we saw early in the prep where he scraped up 2 in a row, good E/W odds as well. The drop in weight also a positive here. Has a chance.

Danger - Atomic Force

Selections - 3 - 2 - 1 - 7

R5 - New Lantao Bus - 1650M - C3

4 - Quantum Patch - Zac Purton - Next Best

Can forgive his last start at Sha Tin at the 1400, didn't seem to suit. He goes back up to the 1650 where his form has been sound and gets the Hong Kong king as well. Looks hard to beat here Pierre Ng been a bit quiet lately but Quantum Patch looks ready tonight. Next Best for me.

Danger - Red Hare King

Selections - 4 - 7 - 8 - 3

R6 - Kwoon Chung Inclusive & Accessible Service - 1200M - C4

1 - Solar Partner - Hugh Bowman

This horse hasn't won since last time Bowman was on board drops back to Class 4 with a big weight but only got better last term as the weight increased in C4. Has every chance here to get back to winning ways and will look to get a nice settle off pace to take on the field on the straight.

Danger - Super Eagle

Quaddie - 1 - 9 - 2 - 6 - 11

R7 - Kwoon Chung Bug Cup - 1200M - C3

3 - Golden Empire - Zac Purton

1 - Watch Buddy - Harry Bentley

The feature for the night is going to put Watch Buddy to the test, who doesn't seem to want to lose at the moment, gets another weight increase here and despite that could still defy the odds and continue to be exceptional. Golden Empire also has a chance here to back up the dominate last start win and Zac Purton on the reigns makes me not want to miss out.

Danger - Watch Buddy

Quaddie - 3 - 1 - 9 - 4

R8 - KC Smart Mobility - 1650M - C4

3 - Sure Joyful - Hugh Bowman

7 - Starship Eighty - Antoine Hamelin - Each Way

If you want a luckless and consistent horse at Happy Valley this is the one for you, forever impressive and good here and surprisingly only one win at track and distance (also won at Sha Tin first up 1400M) time to crack that vicious cycle on minor placings tonight and if it all goes right for Bowman it can happen.

Danger - Starship Eighty

Quaddie - 3 - 7 - 4 - 12

R9 - Tai Fung Coach - 1200M - C4

9 - Happy Soul - Keegan De Melo

Going to take a chance with the light weighted 5yo from the Danny Shum stable, gets a good draw here against a very strong field wouldn't say I'm super confident but I think this race is a lot more open than it may seem.

Danger - Flying Phantom

Quaddie - 9 - 7 - 5 - 3
